| Tax Exempt Customers |
| Tax Exemption Procedure |
| Customers who request tax exemptions must contact the Indiana Reservation Call Center (1-866-622-6746). To be eligible customers must meet the following requirements: |
- Under state and federal law the tax-exempt group must be identified in order to receive the tax exemption. Rentals must identify the group as making the rental for the exemption to apply.
- Groups have to have a planned activity or program for exemption to apply. For example, ten group members who just want to camp can not use the group's non-profit status as a reason for exemption.
- Individuals are not eligible for tax exemption. If a rental/reservation is recorded for an individual, then the tax exemption does not apply.
- The tax exemption applies only to waiving the state sales tax for an Indiana tax-exempt organization. Out-of-state organizations are not eligible for the exemption.
- The State must have a copy of the tax-exempt certificate. The group will be charged for the tax until the copy of the certificate is received by the state and it is verified that the customer actually stayed in the facility.
| Tax-exempt requests will be handled as follows: |
- The Indiana Call Center will make the reservation for the customer and the system will NOT deduct the tax at this point.
- The Customer must mail their copy of the tax-exempt certificate and the itinerary for group's planned activity to the address below for approval:
CRS Administrator
Indiana Department of Natural Resources
State Parks & Reservoirs, RM W298
402 W. Washington Street
Indianapolis, IN 46204
- The CRS Administrator will review these requests and approve those that are eligible after the reservation date has past.
| NOTES: The tax exemption applies to all state sales tax collected by properties. This applies to taxes on camping, recreation buildings, and cabins. It does not apply to the County Innkeeper's Tax. By state law the County Innkeeper's Tax is not exempt to anyone under any circumstances. |

| Site Specific vs. Site Standard |
| Site Specific vs. Site Standard |
| As you know the Indiana Department of Natural Resources is funded mainly by the revenue that is collected at each property and by limited general funds from the State. Each property has a budget that they use to operate their property with. At most properties funds are not available for year round coverage at the gatehouses. Therefore properties must make the decision as to when they will have someone working at the gatehouses. It is best that the properties have gatehouse coverage during the high use months so that when customers arrive, they are directed to the correct site. |
For those times when the funds are not available to have someone at the gatehouse, customers without reservations are allowed to enter the campground, choose a site and set up. At some point during the day/evening a member of the staff will collect camping fees, from each new camper, or the camper is instructed to go to the Property Office to register for the site.
Several methods have been reviewed in an effort to try staying with site specific during the reservation season. It always circles back to the simple fact that any method would cost money that is not available.
Rest Assured! With site standard you are guaranteed a site. It may not be the exact site you want but a site will be waiting for you when you arrive and you will still have a wonderful camping experience. We hope this helps you understand why we are not able to offer site specific reservations during the entire reservation season.
To help you in choosing the correct site type, when making reservations during a site standard season, please use the guidelines below:
Site Types tell you how many sites are available by the type of equipment that you have selected. For example, if you have a popup camper and you want to stay 2 nights, the following results show that there are two types available. Type 7 has 17 sites available and Type 5 has 80 sites available.

Type 7 will accommodate tents, popup, and a trailer/motor home up to 30' in length. By clicking on the details link you will see a list of sites within that site type and it will show you a description of those sites. It also tells you how close facilities are located to a site.
